Is a Party Bike Worth It?
Every group trip hits the same question at some point. Is this thing actually worth the money, or are we paying for a photo op?
Fair question. Here is the honest breakdown of what a party bike costs, what you get, and when it is the right call versus something else.
What a party bike costs
At The Pedalcycle, seats start at $55 per person for a 2 hour ride. You book by the seat, so a group of 8 pays for 8 seats, not a flat rate for the whole night.
A few quick examples:
- 8 friends: 8 seats at $55, everyone pays their own $55
- 12 person bachelorette: 12 seats, still $55 each
- Want the whole bike to yourselves? Book a Private Tour on the live calendar and you will see that price there
Drinks at the bar stops are separate, and you pay the bar directly. Cash gets you served fastest.
What you get for $55
- Two full hours of the group together, in one place, doing one thing
- A guide who steers and runs the route, so nobody in your group is driving
- Bar stops built in along the route through town
- Music the whole way, and you can request songs
- The photos. Guides set aside time for group pics, and half the town stops to watch you roll by
- A canopy overhead, so light rain does not end the night

The part that is hard to put a price on: nobody gets left out. No skill level, no waiting on a bench, no half the group off doing something else. Everyone has a seat and everyone is in it. Here is how a ride works from start to finish.
How it compares
Party bus or limo. These usually price by the hour with a minimum, so you pay the same whether 6 people show up or 20. They make sense when you need to cover real distance between towns. For a night in one shore town, a lot of that time is spent sitting in traffic. We broke this one down in pedal pub vs party bus.
A regular bar night. Cheaper on paper, but the group splits up, half the night is spent figuring out where to go next, and nobody remembers it as anything special. The party bike gives the night a shape and a centerpiece.
A boat or a bigger excursion. Great, and usually a much bigger number per person, with more planning, more weather risk, and more people who get seasick. The bike is the easy yes.
When it is worth it
- Bachelorette and bachelor parties. It fills the gap between the beach day and the night out, which is the slot every party schedule struggles with. See our bachelorette and bachelor pages.
- Birthdays, especially when the group is mixed and you need something everyone will actually do.
- Company outings. Two hours, everyone talking, no awkward icebreakers. More in team building at the Jersey Shore.
- Groups of 6 or more who want one plan instead of five.
When it might not be
- Anyone under 21. Every ride is 21+ with ID, no exceptions.
- You need to get between towns. The bike rides around 3 to 5 MPH through one town. It is a ride, not a shuttle.
- Your group is not into bars. Drinking is optional, but the route is built around bar stops.
Frequently asked questions
How much is a party bike at the Jersey Shore?
At The Pedalcycle, seats start at $55 per person for a 2 hour ride in Beach Haven or Seaside Heights. Drinks at the bar stops are paid separately.
Do we have to fill all 15 seats?
No. You book by the seat, and smaller groups can share the bike. A ride needs at least 6 seats booked to go out.
Is it hard to pedal?
No. The work is shared across the whole group, the pace is easy, and a guide handles the steering.
What happens if it rains?
Light rain is fine with the canopy, and ponchos are available. If there is heavy rain or lightning, the ride gets a rain check.
